Me a Dog Trainer?!?!

So we have a dog named Dexter. He is NOT my dog, although I am his main caretaker/trainer, which I knew was going to happen. Hallie loves him SO much, but he is still in the puppy stage where he jumps and nips and is wild. So all the kids are a little weary of him right now.
I do not like other people’s pets all that much, unless they are well mannered…which is kind of the same way I feel about other people’s kids…LOL. J/k. Anyways, I was ok with her having a dog, as long as it was well mannered. So I decided I would have no choice but to take it to obedience school.
The class started on Tuesday night. It goes for 6 weeks. It is only $40 and is supposed to train your dog to be family friendly, which is exactly my objective. Hallie was supposed to come, but she caught the flu from Kayler and has been in bed since Monday afternoon. She is miserable. Anyways, I took the dog and it was HILARIOUS.
First off, I am sure most people have heard that people and their pets look and act similar in a lot of ways. Well, it was SOOO true at this class. We had 3 women who were all just normal, and they all had generic looking cocker spaniel/mutt dogs. We had a very stocky/tubby woman with a very stocky/tubby Sharpe. We had a very tall thin woman with a very tall thin Doberman. Next we had a well put together girl with cute fluffy hair, with a very cute poofy haired Shitzu. Then we had the 2 oddballs of the group. Me of course, because Dexter is not my dog. Then there was a VERY large man, with a great big loud voice, and he had a tiny tiny tiny little Pomeranian type dog. It was like 5 inches tall and weighed 8 ounces he said.
It was the most amusing thing I had ever seen. I was really nervous that Dexter would be very bad and embarrass me. I was more worried that he would pee or poop all over, because he isn’t so good at that. He was so good and cute. He had never been around another dog, so his eyes were just lit up the entire time. The well put together girl’s dog peed all over, and was the worst student. She was very pregnant though, so I felt bad for her trying to train her rotten dog.
So that was my adventure for the week. I hope and pray that Hallie will be well so she can go next week. So far Dexter knows sit and lay down. I hope to teach him a lot more. Have a great day!

You crack me up. I'm always learning something new about you. I honestly can't see you down at a dog training but I agree with you that you want a well mannered pet. Reading about the people brought me humor too. Thanks Kandis!

Sounds like fun, we need to get Lily in some training as well. Good luck with it, I hope it goes well.

P.S Morgie was positive for the flu but she called my house in stead of my cell, so Now I am certain this is what I have as well. Errrrr I am miserable.
So I hope your kiddies get to felling better soon,

I am so not a do trainer, at all. Well lets just say I am not an animal person. But Seneca loves animals, so I am sure we will have a dog someday, and there I will be just like you trying to train the thing. Your post gave me a good laugh. Take care.

okay this has got to be the funniest blog, I've ever read!!!! you are hilarious. Brady so feels the same way about dogs. He so is against them. But I told him that no matter what our girls will have a dog when I feel the time is right. He doesn't like that idea to much. I'm glad your dog didn't pee on the floor. See have a little faith in the little guy!!

This is hilarious to me because I feel the same way about dogs as you do. You and I are both neat freaks/germ freaks and dogs just don't fit into our neat little lifestyles. LOL. But, I know we'll be getting a dog eventually, too. Brian wants one and Nevie LOVES dogs, so I'm already outnumbered.
